Looking into getting a new truck to replace my current 1995 F250 4x4 that
has 81,000 miles, and a VERY wimpy 351 that can't pull itself against a
head-wind.

What will not happen:
NO diesel - no way, can't afford the initial cost, can't afford the
maintenance, and besides, I don't pull a heavy load often or far enough to
justify. Nothing against diesel, but all things being checked into, it's
just not for me.

otherwise, my needs/desires/wants:
extended cab (not crew cab, not standard)
4x4
Gas
6 speed auto
ability to tow 20' camper, self-contained (small, but still generates wind
resistance and weight)
ability to tow a 20' flat bed that weighs 2,000 pounds with a 3,000 or
3,400 pound car on it, and perhaps a couple engines tossed in the bed of
the truck
ability to tow same flatbed with 4 or 5 1/5-3hp engines loaded on.

What do you guys and gals have - keeping in mind that with all the changes
in trucks lately, you can't compare even a 2005 to a 2011 - things have
changed in engines, HP ratings, brakes, and capacity. For example, some of
the new 1/2 ton trucks will tow 10,000 pounds, 5500 with a non-load
leveling hitch.

For now, due to dealers, selection, price, etc I'm concentrating on Ford
and Chevrolet, with the leaning on Chevrolet due to more options,
warranty, etc.

Thoughts?????

Thanks
