The following was posted by Geoff Challinor on the UK Stationary
Engine Forum today:

Hi all
You will no doubt have noticed that I have kept off the various engine
news/forum sites for many years now.

Since the theft 11 years ago and the arson attack on my home, I
decided that it would be best not to get drawn on various comments and
criticisms about me, as I knew, that if the culprits of some of the
crimes should ever be bought to court, they would use any tactics to
get off. This proved to be so as this forum was mentioned in court.

I will in due course explain things in full but I am at the moment
trying to come to terms with 11 years of hell.

The Rotary valve Crossley will now be returned to the owner who kindly
loaned it to us many years ago. Some of the other stolen engines were
mentioned in court specifically that Green claimed to have collected
the O type Gardner gas engine for a friend (who was named in court)
and shipped it to him. This friend’s home is also where the Gardner
was recovered from in 2001. This friend also had some of our
lubricators, a magneto, a photo taken outside his back door of one of
the stolen models and he had sold the stolen Robinson to a very honest
collector who got suspicious of it, and that started some more police
investigations. I must point out that the “friend” wasn't present in
court to defend himself against any implied or expressed allegations
that were made. Their name was also mentioned as being the buyer of
the National engine serial number 5469 in Australia.

A big thank you to all those who have stayed loyal and supported me
and the museum over the last few years, I hope now to be able to
contribute again to this and other sites.

 Geoff
