So he can live O.K. if he stays there or is he living in poverty?. I'm reminded of all the immigrants who came to America with little or nothing to start a new live, but I guess things were different back then.

I can answer that.
My bro was engineering manager of Haggy Rand. The mine cable makers in
Joburg. When the govt changed and the Rand dropped to such a low value, he,
having just retired, was caught in an economic trap. As such, if he leaves
there, he will be a pauper, having had the value of his money and
possessions reduced to just about zero in the rest of the western world..

Jerry,
Things always sound so bad there, why don't you pack up and move to a
more civilized place?

Hi Gene,
Thanks. Not soooooo big - just under 5 acres - a very common size
here. The area in the photo covered by the trees and river takes up more
than half of it but is very pretty and has it's own mini ecosystem. There
is quite a steep drop (not really obvious in the pic) from the edge of the
tree line to the river. My house is probably about 40' to 50' foot higher
than the river.

I'm not sure about the blonde but the redhead is my daughter
Jacqui :-)
keep well,
Jerry
