BUT -----------
I do agree with what ROB is saying - many years ago when I wrote
my first webpage a monitor size of 640 x 480 pixels (VGA) was considered
"BIG" . Then came 800 x 600 (we all said "WOW") then came something bigger
- then even bigger et al (I do not want to even go there!).
Monitors became "higher resolution". On my first webpages a
picture (we are all only interested in looking at the pictures after all -
not so) of 640 x 480 provided a really nice picture that we could all see
"detail" on.
Then came "Broadband" and higher Internet Connection speeds
combined with higher "Monitor Resolution" which meant that many of us could
download (remember that "Downloading" does not necessarily mean "saving to
disk" - even "looking" at the pic in your Browser (before saving) - it
means "data (or kilobytes) transferred from your server to your computer
(the system has to move "bytes" or "kilobytes or "megabytes" or "whatever"
and this is what you pay for). I understand that costs may differ depending
on your "Global position" - In South Africa (where I am) we are limited to
a "cap" (in my case 2 Gigabytes per month for the amount of money I pay)
Broadband has become a lot cheaper but we, on the "oldengine" or
"SEL" lists still have to consider our members who cannot access
"broadband" (I was one of them until recently). I know and understand that
we cannot be limited by those of us that are
not lucky enough to have "broadband access".
SO, Where to from here ?
Sorry guys but I do not have the answer- My personal feeling is
(in spite of having been a "dial-up" user for many years) - Forward (the
Internet will never go backwards).

Helen, I'm thinking, make your "thumbnail" a lot bigger (at least
250 pixels wide) and put 2 links to it - 1 for "low resolution" (for the
"non-broadband" users) and 1 (high resolution for those of us lucky enough
to have broadband). I know it's a lot of extra work (that's why I have not
gone there yet) but you are, after all, our favourite "Webmistress" and we
all love you.
That's my bit for tonight !!!!

Keep the revs up (or down)
