Ok gang I finally got the Gib Key out a few minutes ago and I want to thank each and every person who sent in their ideas.

I just put together a rather lengthy post with picture links showing the process but knowing that the last time I sent a message to the SEL with a URL Link in it that the message took 13 hours to show up on the list I decided to quickly send this one.

So this message is devoid of links but I am sending it to you to give you a "Heads Up" on the one with pictures that will follow.

Basically my procedure was to thoroughly clean the area around the Gib Key and shaft with a wire brush on the end of a drill motor. Once this area was clean as well as the gib key slot I sprayed it all down with carburetor cleaner to get all remains of oil and grease off. I then used a Heat Gun (not a torch) to gently heat the area just until all of the metal was warm. Then I took a hot glue gun and build a dam around the Gib Key and filled this dam with Kroil Oil. I filled the dam last night with Kroil Oil before I left the shop. This afternoon when I went back out in the shop I noticed that the dam was dry so I added so more Kroil Oil and saw that it was dripping out the backside of the flywheel so I knew then that I had penetration of oil all the way through the flywheel and around the gib key. I removed the glue dam and took a #2 drift pin and placed it between the flywheel and the tang on the Gib Key and gave it a few whacks and it just started sliding out. Added a few pieces on flat iron to take up the space and repeated the procedure with the Drift Pin and she came all the way out.

The upcoming message with the pictures will show and explain all of this better for those who are interested in looking at the process.

Thanks again Guys,

Paul
