A fellow shows up at my place last weekend with a 3HP type M in the back
of his truck. He is a farmer just around the corner from me and knows
virtually nothing about gas engines. Someone around here told the poor
guy I did! lol
It apparently belonged to his wife's grandfather who passed away many
years ago. Since then the engine has sat under the work bench at the
home farm until her father asked if anyone wanted it.
The engine is in good shape with everything fairly free and complete and
has what looks to be an original clutch pulley. It has the original Wico
mag and spark plug ignition system and has some spark.
Interesting modification which consists of a bracket bolted to the top
of the water hopper attached to a chain which runs down to the governor
v guide that the fingers ride in. Holes have been drilled in it and
attached to hold it tight against the mains. The main function of this
engine was to drive a wood lathe.
There is no plate on the engine so I was wondering if type M engines had
the serial number anywhere else on them?
No, it is not for sale :-( but he wants to "get it going" .
thanks,
Duncan
