Hi List,
I must be a glutton for punishment. No sooner than I finished with the
Briggs & Stratton Model ZZ, I am starting to work on a Wisconsin Model MBKND. It
is a single cylinder air cooled engine with shielded ignition and spark
plug. The engine turns over easy and seems to have good compression. From the
information I obtained on the Internet, this engine was used by the military
on a pump. I received the engine with no gas tank. However, I was able to
rework an existing gas tank to fit the engine.
The magneto puts out a very hot spark. The 7/8" diameter output shaft is
not keyed and only has 1" threaded section (7/8" 14 tpi). I am using a
Browning pulley with a taper bushing which I hope will be able to hold the pulley to
the shaft without a key. The exhaust system was missing and I intend to
build one from some 1" pipe and a piece of 2" x 4" x 3" rectangular tubing.
Depending on what I have to do tomorrow on home chores and other
commitments, I am hoping that I will able to try to start this engine no later than
Sunday.
I have a Wisconsin Model BKN manual on order and should be here in about a
week. I think that only differences between the Model MBKND and the Model BKN
is the shield ignition system. Can anyone confirm this for me?
