WOW - Ron,
I would have never thought of something like that.
I guess it could be done, in a different application, but there are too
many obstacles in the way inside the base. And - being a Briggs - It's
pretty small in there.

There are 6 free standing pillars and 4 on the sides for bolt holes and
oil pump mount that would all have to be cut around.

It would be like laying a sheet of linoleum in a public men's room
leaving the stalls intact.
(I have done that as I am a floor covering installer. ) It was no fun.

Something I didn't think of though - Name & Date - Good idea.

As for finding another base - - - I'm sure I will find one somewhere -
sometime.
Problem is - - - When I find a "parts engine" I usually fix it up to run.
Buying just parts - is like buying diamonds.  Everything is "sky high".
