Hi All, This is about a 94 Ford 5.8 351 Windsor. So delete now if
your not interested. Fair Warning, LOL.
I need to talk to a good ford mechanic if we have any on the list. I
need to run through some ideas. Its in the van I just got to replace
the Hawkins Machine I lost in the wreck nearly three weeks ago. .
Its had all new plugs, rotor and cap, fuel filter and now I know its
throwing a code 33 as I bought a code reader today for the old ones.
OBD 1 . . Heres the rest.
I knew this when I got it but Its got a bad stumble at all rpms.
Idle, light acceleration and at speed. Seems to not stumble under
hard acceleration. Goes pretty good. It is throwing a 33 EGR code.
After several hours of cussing and misery in the sun and heat I
checked out the EGR as best I could and finally tore it all out. One
cuss of a job. Not an easy job considering where its buried. All
parts check out. I have 5 V power to the solenoid switch on,
Continuity of the solenoid windings. No vacuum at idle. The EGR
valve itself works as it should but I have an egr code and the
stumbling. Maybe the two are not related? In either case its throwing
a 33. I am starting to think I might have a bad computer. So if
anyone is very familiar with these beasts please help. At least just
running through some ideas. I am going back out now to reassemble.
If I could just get the stumble to go away I would not give a hoot
about the 33 . Will try to check the timing chain tomorrow.
