I was able to get to the Fairgrounds today and the facilities north
of the creek as a whole looked pretty good. Could not get a good look
at either of the grand stands. The cattle building which is the
building furthest to the north over on the east side is flattened.
All the other buildings looked pretty good from a distance. At least
they all appeared to be standing ok. They were busy about the
grounds cleaning up so we only poked around the edges looking in so
to keep out of the way. Did see to my surprise that the big trees in
the engine area were still standing.
Findlay seems torn up the worst right through the heart of town
then on south. When you get up to the upper end of town north of 224
or Trenton Ave. the damage diminishes quickly. From Trenton south is
where the worst appears to have occurred. The storm here was
traveling in a east-south easterly direction. The majority of town
appeared to be out of power. But to the extreme east and north side
there was power. We did not venture to the south side. From what we
seen most of the towns troubles seems to be with rotten old trees
taking down utility lines. There was lots of roof and window damage
all over but other then the cattle barn we seen no other buildings
utterly destroyed on our brief tour. Looks like we are ok for the show.
Findlay has a mind boggling amount of clean up. Our little town of
Bluffton took a hard hit too but it did not appear quite as bad as
Findlay. To be honest with you from the storm damage we have seen on
the news from Hurricanes and direct tornado hits we got off better I
think. We had a major ice storm go through here several years ago and
I believe the tree damage in some respects was worse then. Its a
different kind of damage compared to wind but with the ice storm
almost every tree took moderate to heavy damage.
Our clubs Vice Pres- Richard Williams lost a 40X80 machinery
storage building to the wind. Everything we seen today and so far has
looked like straight line wind, not tornado damage.

>am sure have seen damage too. I will try to get over there today
>and see if I can get a look myself at the damage. Once I get a look
