Hi Jeff,
I'm sorry that you feel that way but please do not be upset. Allow
me to explain a few things first.
1) I know I said I would write to the bidders personally within 24
hours BUT, I was not counting on having the type of day I had yesterday -
it was just one of those days where everything went wrong and needed my
immediate attention and I could not find the time to write those letters.
Then I had a lot of paperwork etc. to do and I had to do it last night. I
eventually started writing the letters after midnight last night but only
got 2 of them done and I pressed "send" at about 2:30 am this morning - I
still had some other paperwork to do and was was just too tired to do any
more letters -I eventually got to bed at 4:45 am and thought that I would
send the others out today. I did get an e-mail from Paul at Internal Fire
and he mentioned that you and one other bidder had already paid (but he did
not say how much)and those were the two letters I still needed to write but
thought that, seeing as that you had paid already you were happy. It's now
4:30 pm Wednesday here and I only got in to the office and downloaded my
mail about 3/4 hour ago and found this mail from you.
2) Re updating the bids, I saw your original mail in this regard
but both Luke Tonneberger and George Best sent in regular updates to both
lists on status of the bidding so I did not bother to duplicate their
posts. Did you not see these ??
3) Regarding the fact that I said the highest bidders could choose
how many they wanted - the rules never changed !! I did realise that this
may have caused a bit of confusion but allowed for it in a letter (Off
List) to Paul a day before closing - I'll "cut and paste" part of my letter
to Paul here:
**********
"Also, I did say that the highest bidder could choose how many he wants and
then the second highest etc. It may end up a bit confusing - but I could
always throw in a few extra if necessary to placate anyone "
**********
So you see Jeff, I had made allowance for that and you as the
second highest bidder can choose to take 3 plates (or even 4 if you wish)
I have no problem with that and the next 2 lower bids will still get their
plates and more if they so wish - after all, it just means that Internal
Fire will get more money in which makes me very happy.
4) The closing time was 8:00 pm (GMT) (or ZULU time if you prefer
the military version) as I stated right from the beginning. The the last 2
bids were from David Carter (which came in almost an hour before closing
time) and Alan in Michigan which came into my computer about 2 hours before
closing time. I'll paste the headers from their mails below. Both of these
went to the Oldengine List so you should have seen them.:

Jeff please let me know how many plates you want and the details -
it will be a pleasure to make them for you. I apologise for any confusion
and hope that everything is now cleared up .
