Hi Arnie

Can you do me a favour and post this to the ATIS list? I've tried a
couple of times and it doesn't appear.

Thanks,
Dolly

Hi Folks

Remember Tillie, the half-breed oilfield engine I bought for Jim's 40th
birthday? Well, guess what? That was 10 years ago! Now we're hoping
to take her to Nuenen this year, but a problem has arisen.
When we got Tillie, the babbitt on the crosshead was thin and worn, so
going to Nuenen has inspired Jim to re-do the babbitt. Today, he
stripped the crosshead down but when he started warming everything up,
degreasing and drying it out before attempting pouring the molten
babbitt, he spotted a tiny line of oil coming out of the main bearing as
it warmed up, so the project has been halted. What now? Before going
any further, advice and suggestions will be most welcome.
And, just out of curiousity, how was this bearing machined when new,
because it can't be rotated and it appears to be one single casting?
Anyway, please take a look at the pictures

Thanks for all and any input!
