[SEL] Warning, Linseed oil Luck

The subject of using Boiled Linseed Oil for a protection finish has been 
talked about before.
Yesterday afternoon I oiled an engine transporter in the shed and later used 
a rag to wipe of excess Linseed, looked good and as it to hot in the shed 
that was it.
About 11.50 last night the wife woke me to tell me she could smell something 
burning both at the back and front of the house, when the brain got into 
gear I tought THE RAG and rushed to the shed.
The air outside was full of burning paint smell and opening the shed door 
the shed was totally full of smelly smoke, the rag was smoldering and the 
wooden bench top was to hot to touch, several inches away on the bench was a 
4 liter plastic bottle of turps.
The luck part, The wife was still up reading and had windows opened because 
of the heat, the breeze carried the smell into the house, I found the rag 
before it ignited and exploded the plastic bottle of turps. I would have 
lost the shed and machinery.
I knew that on the bottle is "Safety Directions : Soak rags in water after 
use to prevent spontaneous combustion" but had forgotten that bit and must 
have just put the rag on the bench when finished.
one very lucky day.
