This will be a nice engine when I get it going. It needs a few parts:
Fuel pump and handle
Crank guard (early style)
Vaporiser
Timing valve & linkages
Carby (early style with central wing nut)
Fuel valve & linkages as well as roller & pin.
Air valve rocker & roller.
If anyone has any bits lying around it would be a great help.
The biggest mechanical problem is the crankshaft. If you look at this pic
you can see two pieces of metal bolted onto the flywheel (across the
spokes).

I could not work out why they were there until I checked the alignment of
the flywheels with each other. The sideshaft side flywheel is about 5
degrees out of true. The pieces of metal must have been attached to
rebalance the engine.
This is the one weak point on Australs. The crankshaft is made up of 5
pieces pressed together and occasionally one of the shafts will rotate
leaving the flywheels out of position and therefore out of balance.
There are two options to deal with this problem. Pull off the flywheels,
press out the problem shaft, align it and press then pin it in place. The
other option is to pull of the flywheel, weld up the shaft and cut a new
keyway. Both are big jobs but both possible. Opinions?
