Hi Peter

It's nothing to do with editing images; MS have made an upgrade 
incompatible with itself, so that a simple image file can no longer be 
opened within the email program - as Paul said, it has to be saved, THEN 
opened.
Paul, you'll find a cure within the MS forums.  They made a program 
which will delete IE8 and reinstate IE7 - simply using Firefox will NOT 
cure this.
