[SEL] Working Clothes

Patrick:

I like 'em both ways. There's nothing nicer than a very old and fine engine that's restored to new condition. Some of those engines are really works of engineering art.

Then, there's the engine that worked on a farm for a living and kept running with ingenuity and balin' wire. Those are nice to see, too.

Although they look nice when over-restored, most of the commoner engines never were beauty queens. Even when they were new, they had pits and casting imperfections, sloppy paint and even some factory jury-rigging. To be authentic, they should not be restored to any better than they looked when they left the factory.

Anyhoo - the engine belongs to the owner and he or she is free to do whatever rings their chimes.

Take care - Elden
