I see what you mean, Dave.
I used Google maps.
It must be a slow ferry.
With the ferry it is 266 mi – about 8 hours 4 mins
Without the ferry it is 485 mi – about 8 hours 17 mins
 
It only takes 13 more minutes to drive around the lake.
It would only cost me $30 with my truck to drive the extra 220 miles.
That would be a lot better than saving the 220 miles and paying $77.
 
Right, Dave you just have the 365 days per year vacation.

Thanks Alan, but if Mapquest is correct it's only ~490 miles (8 hours,  
7 minutes) from Buckley to Baraboo via Chicago. It would be a ~214  
mile drive from Buckley to Baraboo if we used the ferry. Looks about a  
toss-up to me. Arnie and I really consider anything under ~700 miles a  
"local" show!

PS, The REAL problem here is the "vacation schedule"--Arnie gets a  
vacation and I don't!
