[SEL] A good weekend

As well as a very successful rally for our club on the weekend I had two
great moments.
1. I was handed the QLD Shipping records for the Austral Engines (a massive
boost for the register).
2. I spoke to the guy who pulled the Columbus that I now own out of the
shale mine where it was installed new. It was used to pump water out of the
mine where they were digging up shale to produce shale oil and petroleum.
This mine was the first in Australia to produce petroleum so there is a
pretty good chance that my Columbus was the first engine to run on
Australian made petroleum. I am going to organise a trip out to see where
the Columbus came out of. Apparently it is a very difficulty to access place
and getting the engine out (and in there in the first place) was quite a
feat.
I will leave a rally report for one of the other list members who were
there. Perhaps one of them can explain the story of how Kerry became known
as 'butter bum'......
