They are expensive at first issue, but they drop away pretty quickly
once the Chinese start making cheap copies, then you have to try and
ensure that you have a genuine Sony battery.

I'll check which batteries Philip's camera uses, I don't use it myself
so am not too familiar with the controls etc.

The NP-FM50 battery is common to three of our cameras, the earlier
NP-F330 and NP-F550 are common to most of the Mavicas. The odd ones
out are the DVD digicam and the little DSC-V1, both have different
batteries to everything else.
