Not supported by big vendors?

NNTP server: news.microsoft.com

Admitedly they use the news groups to syndicate their technical forums - 
but the microsoft.public.* and microsoft.msdn.* newsgroups certainly 
exist! You might hate them but you cannot say they're not a big vendor!

ps. I wouldn't say PINE was quite dead yet... there are die-hards 
keeping it up to date (check the "Updated" date below on PINE's entry at 
www.freshmeat.net)
