On a visit to a small Machinery Museum we sighted an open crank
3HP.Vertical Blackstone engine,on speaking to the guide who happened to be
the club vice president we were quickly told the eng. had been in the
collection for 32 years and was never for sale, on our suggestion that he
might donate the eng. to us and we would make a LARGE donation ($00000) to
the Museum, it was put to a vote by the club and our offer was accepted,we
now own the little Blackstone.
I had checked the Museum website before our visit and found out they had
applied for a government grant which had been approved, a two for one
agreement on donations they recieved meant they received triple our offer.
Conclusion.
Make an offer that can`t be refused.
