Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the replies to my original post on this subject. I'm not
going to name you all but thanks anyway.
Greg Johnson, Dave Croft, Patrick Livingstone (who sent pics) and Rob
Skinner seem to have identified it correctly as a Hardy and Padmore. The
Brass plate on it is identical to one on a pic from Patrick.
I have not yet been able to find an exact match - all those I've seen are
smaller than this so am still on the lookout.
As mentioned on the webpage, it is NOT my engine but it is "For Sale" but
I don't think I'm ready to mortgage my house to buy an engine even if I'd
love to have this one.
It's part of an estate and the current owners are hoping to sell the
entire collection to one buyer (although this may be negotiable). There are
only 3 engines in the collection, this one, an open crank Fairbanks Morse
Type C and a Lister D. The rest consists of tractors, farm machinery, a
Ford Model A Sportster (1928) and a small museum full of other (mostly
agricultural) stuff. Everything is beautifully restored.
I'll be putting it all on a webpage in the next few days and will keep you
guys posted.
Thanks to all for their input.
I've updated the webpage here:
