Subject: Magnet Meter
Did you ever wish you could use your digital volt meter to measure the strength and polarity of a magnetic field? Or actually measure the strength of a magnet before and after remagnetizing? If so, you might be interested in this relatively simple voltmeter accessory . It is a Gauss Meter.
With a lot of help from Elden, we have put together a little circuit board ( 1/2 X 2 inches ) which has the Linear Hall-Effect sensor and supporting electronics on it. To use the Gauss Meter you have to provide a 9 to 12 battery for power and a volt meter to measure the output voltage or package it as a standalone instrument like Elden is doing. The main ingredients of this project is a battery , a small circuit board and five electronic components.
If anyone wants to try this project, we might consolidate the parts order and , if warranted, have a vender make the PC boards. A WAG at the cost is $10 to $15. I have more in shipping and handling than parts so it is hard to estimate. I need to keep this short and can send pictures / electric cartoons off list. So let me know if you might be interested.
