Jerry,

Not a Fairbanks expert, but owned a 1919 similar 6 hp. It is throttle
governed. Guessing yours is a 3 hp, 1918-1923 era, but need to know what mag, and
then may be newer. Appears to be a Bosh mag, but just a guess as not much seen
in photos. The v grooves were probably machined in the flywheel sometime
later and not original. Not original muffler system. Should be open crank. Not
sure what is going on the top. It looks like a plate is bolted over the hopper
opening. Note what appears to be 2 bolts near the front and 2 bolts near the
rear of the hopper top. Oiler pipe should come out of hopper near the back
of the hopper. Also the pipe coming across the top of hopper to the front is
added. Wonder if someone covered the hopper opening, added the pipes and made
some type of a closed thermosiponing cooling system? Not sure what 5 months
of brandy/coke cost you but it may be too much.

However, my 6hp was a nice runner and tinkering with it made it sound like
hit/miss. Have some photos somewhere of it pulling a molasses mill for 2 days,
kept at a rolling boil, and used one gallon water per hour.
