[SEL] Fw: Interesting Paint Job at Coolspring

I saw this Reid while at Coolspring.

I didn't get a chance to ask the owner of the engine how he managed to get this type of finish.  It doesn't look like traditional paint, it looks more like the graphite coating that is used on steam locomotive smokeboxes.  Anyone have an idea as to how this finish can be achieved?
