[SEL] Widowmaker

There is a guy down the road from me that has a similar saw that has a Ford
Prefect 4 cyl motor on it. It was made in Ipswich QLD. Apparently there were
a few around the area. They were used primarily for cutting wood. It is a
mean beast of a thing. Problem is, they don't want to part with it. And it
is sitting in a paddock. Maybe someday??

HMMM.I been scratchin something to stop itching.Guess
I got it wrong.
There are a lot of these saws here in OZ and are still in regular use in
this area.Hargans and Mobilco are two that come to mind.Hargans was from a

town north of here called Coolah. From memory there was an article about him
and his development of this saw in an old issue of TOMM. Blokes around here
that have cut railway sleepers use nothing else and still do.They regularly
come up for sale at local auctions.I watched a bloke at a show at Gilgandra

a town north of here doing wood sculpture using one of these and it was
amazing to watch .He was an absolute artist.
