Dave is mostly right on the flat steel vs cast wheels on Australs. The cast
wheels were only seen on engines up to 8hp but the flat steel wheels were
available as an option on the smaller engines (just to confuse matters). I
would hate to think how much heavier the engines would be if the bigger
engines had the cast wheels.

         It appears to me that the cast/flat steel spokes difference seems 
to be a matter of engine size. Up to 8 HP have cast wheels. Eleven HP (10 
HP?) and above have flat steel spokes.
