[SEL] "Boiling a block" with babbitt bearings

I think he means eat it up or melt it. It depends on the solutions, 
caustics will eat up or disolve aluminum so it might babbit, I don't know 
but I would be wary of it. Around here its hard to find a shop that boils 
anymore. Years ago all but one switched to baking in our area that I know 
of. Main reason was it leaves less contaminated fluids to pay to dispose 
of. (READ Expensive)   Baking will of course melt or soften the babbit.
If its the newer heated environmentally friendly solvents It probably would 
not. But I don't know if the heat used would damage the babbit.
The shop should know the capabilities or their cleaning methods. So Just 
ask em. And if the say it will not damage it make sure to get a guarantee
