File away all marks, needle scale, reverse electrolysis
(http://engines.rustyiron.com/electrolysis), hot brown, then
a concoction of linseed oil, old motor oil, stove polish.

Tip:  use a tool with a large radius, but less than you want
your finished curve to be.  On this part, the tool was made
with about the same shape as the last inch of my little
finger.
