Witte experts,
Was helping an engine buddy last night trying to get his new Witte
(4HP?) running. Did manage to get it chugging along for a while but it
needs some mixer help. Here's several questions I hoping the experts may
have answers to.

-The mixer screws in the side of the head with NPT threads. The mixer
body is loose yet not so loose that it can be turned another full turn
to tighten. Is there a missing locking ring? We were thinking about
adding a conduit locking ring. The looseness really screws up the
TG/butterfly rod.

-It looks like the mixer is a kero run, gasoline start. The gasoline
start is on the front side. He is going to run it on gasoline only.
There is a little cup just in front of the throttle plate. Is this for
priming the engine?

-The round plate about 2" in diameter that has a bunch of holes in it.
Is this a compensator valve like on FM's and IHC M's? If I screwed this
all the way in it floods in one suction stroke. I had to unscrew it so
there was a 1/8" gap between the plate and the mixer body to get it to
run. There is a VERY stiff spring behind this plate. That doesn't seem
right. I'm thinking this should be a soft spring to allow the valve to
unseat. Does anyone know what the correct spring for this is?

I sure will appreciate any input the experts have on this engine.
