You need to work on clearances that will allow the valves to work with
little lubrication, but still allow minimal slop of the valve in the
guide. 2-3 thou radial clearance should be OK, maybe a little less if
the engine runs cool.
Phosphor Bronze is another material that you could use for the guides,
but it does require more lubrication than cast iron.
