[SEL] Nov. GEM

If it's any comfort, may I suggest it's a problem with the USPS?

We recently received a letter from Lowell Wagner. I wondered why he should
be getting in touch because the two of us didn't have any deals hanging.

So, I opened the envelope (It had already been ripped open and taped shut,
again.) and inside was a letter advising that Classic Tractors would be
featuring the 2005 Arizona Flywheelers Show.

The problem was, the broadcast had been a month earlier. I looked at the
postmark and, sure enough, the letter had been out there in limbo for over a
month.

A week ago we got the cover to a catalog in the mail. That's it, just the
cover. All the pages in between were gone.

Yesterday, we got a JC Whitney catalog--sort of. We got half the pages.
Oh, all the pages were there, all right, but only the half of the page
closest to the spine was there. It looked like it had a near miss with a
paper shredder.

The Model A Ford Club of America hasn't started packaging their "Restorer"
in plastic, yet. Too bad. Almost every issue we get is ripped and creased
in one hopeless way or another.

Your GEM? Most likely it's either shredded to dust or on top of somebody
else's night stand.

So many projects. So little time.

Bob,

My neighbor gets the GEM at the book rate rather than first class.
I've been getting it first class for probably 25 years. My neighbor got
his on Nov. 18. With mine being first class it should have arrived at
least a week before his. I've had several first class recipients tell
me there's hasn't arrived. I don't know what's going on but we pay
about twice the rate to get the first class postage for GEM yet the book
rate arrives first??? My guess its on GEM's end. I'll email Richard
Backus.
