Paul

Try this, if you have any emails you want to keep, save as to a new created folder
on your desktop

then empty the inbox, deleted items, and outbox folders

go to start, click find files and folders, in the command line in the search box,
type dbx

then click find

when it is done, find the inbox, deleted items and outbox folders, make sure they
have a recent date, like today or when they were last used, highlight them and
delete them

then delete them from th erecycle bin

do a reboot, OE will create new folders of the ones you deleted, then give it a
try

lets at least make sure that the inbox folder is not corrupted, OE starts with a
new fresh folder

Clint

windows firewall and turned off the firewall so that I had no firewall protection
whatsoever and then tried to download my e-mail messages and got the same error
message. I am about to go off the deep end trying to figure this one out. Thanks
for the suggestion, I appreciate it.
