I think his biggest issue is that the CD rom is not being recognized. You
can go to a website called Driverzone.com and find the driver for the cdrom
installed in the computer. Of course, that means you will have to open the
computer to find the make/ model the cdrom drive. If you can't access the
internet on that machine you can always download on a floppy or usb drive
from another machine and then install on the problem machine.
