Good one Rex!!  Here's the flywheel timing mark on my 1918 5hp and you might 
want to hit fwd for a few more hints:

On the top of the compression stroke it should line up with the top (I 
believe) of the exhaust push rod.  This is when the spark occurs.  As far as 
retard/advance on a EK, I'm not sure as I have a Webster.

And the flywheel is turning CW when looking at the mag.

Also, I don't remember seeing any timing marks on the cam or crank gear. 
The Herc gang can certainly help with that one.
