Jeff,
There are more and more requests like these to lots of our clubs. Some
businesses ask that members come to display their stuff during a special promotion
that the business may be having. New forming clubs/town fairs/etc also ask
members to come and be a part of their show. Steve Barr could have not said it
any better. Bring the invitation to your club meeting. Anyone having a free
day can go if they want to participate. I have never gotten a nickel for
showing my old junk and of course every time you pull the truck and trailer out of
the yard it cost your pocket book. Maybe a free drink or sandwich on
occasion. What I have gotten is lots of leads on more junk and made lots of friends.
The more shows you go to, the more people you meet and talk to, the more
cards you can pass out, the more leads you will get.
One of my best times at shows is when I pull my engines into the local car
cruise-ins on Saturday nights at the local mall. There might be 200-300 antique
cars with big dollar paint jobs, upholstery, etc. The beautiful things sit
there doing NOTHING for people to walk around and look. Meanwhile Tom's rusty
junk from the early teens is going ka-boom, ka-boom! Of course most car
lovers have never heard of a hit and miss engine, let alone heard one running.
Guess who has the most people standing around their display all evening asking
questions!!!!
Have fun displaying where ever and whenever.
