George,

I've heard the story several times, as I'm sure you have, that the
printer had to copy pages from BRB to make the BYB as the original
negatives were destroyed. I inquired about this a few years ago when at
one of the major car swap meets and there was a publishing company there
(I think titled International Motorbooks or Motor Books International or
something very similar) selling books dealing with old cars and they had
the BRB on display selling it as well. I told them the story that I
heard about the BRB utilizing copies of the BYB in order to print it.
The guy said "you're probably the third or fourth person that's told me
that story and I checked our printers after I first heard it and they
said there's nothing to it". I don't know if he was up front or didn't
want to admit if there was a problem on the reprint. I have a BYB here
at home and a BRB at my office. I've compared them before page by page
but couldn't tell any difference in the quality of the printing. Maybe
someone has definitive evidence as to the real story.
