Make sure you connect to the outlet side of the meter otherwise you will be
paying the electric company for the power also

Paul, you may not be providing enough information for an adequate response
to your question.  Is this a new house?  Rewire?  Status of existing wiring
system?  Size of service? How long to be temporary?  Why no local
power?  Etc.  My personal preference would be to seek advice from the local
power company -- for my personal safety as well as house protection.
