[SEL] Sort of OT: Odd iron on building

Someone pointed out to me something strange in this picture:

The corrugated iron on the building is laid horizontally and not vertically
(as is more usual). I think I have seen this a couple of times and Edd says
he has seen it a few times. Does anyone have an idea why it would have been
done this way?
