John,
This is exactly what I had in mind. Being a non cross slide engine 
allowed the use of a large diameter boring bar for rigidity. Those oil 
fields with cross slides and rod gland seal may limit the size of boring 
bar, resulting in too much chatter. Thanks for posting Harry's work.
