G'Day Reg

Totally with you (again, I need to see someone about that, I need help ).
The cost of taking your engine to their rally is becoming a joke.

Getting the young into the hobby is one thing but if we are priced out no
one will be there to encourage them.
Lately a few of us have been giving the Club ran meals a miss settling for a
close pub meal and a few beers because of some very poor meals for your $
that we have attended, saying that I have also had some good ones.
I don't have a problem with clubs making a $ but surly that should be from
sponsors and the public, when you look at the majority of engine people they
are older workers, a lot retired and cannot afford the high costs of showing
their engines/tractors that this club has put on us.
I also believe that a wife should also be admitted free for any rally that
we take an engine to, a lot of organisations are now only allowing one
person per exhibit, the out to that is take a MAYTAG as well.

So to put it in to perspective for me,
We have decided to make this a holiday so the cost of fuel etc is not to us
purely rally related but the decision must now be made to forget pulling an
engine and just go to the rally for a day and pay as a normal public. If we
all do this only the locals will turn up with engines and EVERYONE looses
out.

I don't care about the meals do my own thing, $10 PP/PNight camping seems
a lot but there is a cost to the club for hot showers etc depends on quality
and quantity of amenities so all in all may be reasonable.
The rally badge, well you either want one or you don't, they have been good
quality but $15 is a bit much, the club will be makeing money on them.

So the old story if you want to go pay the freight BUT IT IS NOT GOING TO
HELP OUR HOBBY with these costs
