Paul,
Interesting economizer! I'm taking a guess that it works buy swinging,
with light spring pressure, under the washer of the intake valve to keep
the intake valve closed when the exhaust valve is latched open, correct?
And then when the exhaust valve is allowed to close, the economizer is
pushed out from under the washer allowing the intake valve to be sucked
open, correct?
Rather than risking heating and bending your new casting, would making a
slightly larger washer solve the problem? How about one with a
bevel/chamfer on the bottom side to help the economizer arm swing under
it. Then you would not have to grind much on the cast arm.
Thanks for the photos. It's been way too quiet on the SEL lately.
