G'day Peter;
  So far I've had good luck with a channel thru the spokes and chain around
the cylinder. Note the "U Bolt" securing the flwheel to the channel. See;

Just lately we lifted a 1400 lb 4hp HC Horizontal Famous using the same
setup with no problems. Of course your F-M I believe is a little different
setup but wouldn't this setup work?? Nice and simple and feel good about it.

  We are now thinking of fabricating a maintenance stand much like an engine
stand so the main casting can be turned on two axis. This would come in
handy for disassembly/assembly, painting and such and will be a monster.

Take Care,
RickinMt.
