You are certainy right, Bruce, although heavy grease to glue those keepers
onto the stem helps a lot and harmlessly dissolves with engine oil when the
thing runs again.

And the delightful experience of having the compressed spring get away from
you and mash a finger in that little space.

Oh, the things we do for fun!  I understand that a lot...when I'm not
working on rusty iron I'm exploring caves.  Come back from a good trip with
all kinds of scrapes and bruises!
