[SEL] Postage Rates eBay

Hello Peter, I'll try asking to use the Priority International Air Mail and
see what happens.
The other day I ran out of S/S Lock wire, checked on eBay for some prices
and found that I could get a Kilo sent for only $10 AUD from Pommy land.
Regards
Andy.

Subject: Re: [SEL] Postage Rates eBay

Hi Andy
USA ebay sellers are being hood winked by ebay's third party freight
network, Pitney Bowes.
The reason the postage is expensive is that it comes as Priority
International Air Mail, the cheapest way for us is First Class International
Air Mail, about a quarter of the cost. The eBay freighting system is a
rip-off to sellers and buyers.
Postage has nothing to do with ebay but some how they have let this company
run things. It might be OK for ebay power sellers to have Pitney Bowes do
their packing, customs forms and postage but it is costing the small seller
and the buyer.
I always ask the seller will they post First Class International Air Mail,
this does have a weight limit, and if they will not I just don't buy. Some
get very uptight if you try and get them to change. They are forced to send
Priority International Air Mail unless they tick the right boxes when
formulating their selling adverts.
You are right, sometimes a $5 item has a postage to Oz $50 to $100, this is
why.
The Yanks are funny about someone outside the Good Old USA asks them to
change something as simple as postage or anything for that matter. As you
said they just reply with "take it or leave it", mmmmmmmmmm !! maybe it is
ignorance of a system they do not quite understand I don't know. Of course I
have hundreds of the best American mates and my rant is just a
generalization.

Posting inside Oz, get a postage booklet from the PO, read it and see how
you can save money.
I send some strange things as a large letter, $1.20. Max 20mm thick and 500
gms weight. I sent a sheet of aluminium and the post lady said parcel and
will cost $7.60. I said large letter at $1.20 and no more, read you guide
lines. I won. Look also at post bags rather than boxing etc.
The recent loss is $1 for a letter, but I don't send letters so I don't
care.

Hello, Question for you all, I've only just noticed the eBay postage rate on
some items,

Are out of this world. This is from the USA and England.

I've been looking for a Rota Button for a SR2 magneto, I found one but they
wanted $40 AUD for postage.

I asked them if this was correct, and got told " take it or leave it" it's
up to you?

It's the same with the USA asked again about the postage quoted on a Magneto
cover for a SR2.

Got told they'd do a deal, but then saw the price on the cover jump about
$20 USD.

Some funny people out there.

Is this eBay's doing or just the sellers?

So if you can keep an eye on SR2 parts for me I'd appreciate it.
