Margin is 50%.  Profit is 100%.  Markup is synonymous with margin and is also, obviously, 50%. 

But this problem illustrates why ratios and statistics in general are the third head of Mark Twains lying beast:   The percentage will change based on which factor is the denominator and which is the numerator of the underlying ratio.   Interchange them and the results change drastically even though the underlying definition changed only subtly.

So now you know.....
