There was a version of these shingles too the are often mistaken for asbestos. They are actually some type of a material that makes you think of a soft ceramic or plaster or cementacious material. Be careful with that; the shingles are "asbestos containing" and not all asbestos. I think 10 to 20% asbestos was normal - but not sure. They are usually pretty much fire resistant if not fireproof due to the overall composition. There are different types of asbestos but most are of the crumbly type and wouldn't make good siding. There was a version of these shingles too the are often mistaken for asbestos. They are actually some type of a material that makes you think of a soft ceramic or plaster or cementacious material. Be careful with that; the shingles are "asbestos containing" and not all asbestos. I think 10 to 20% asbestos was normal - but not sure. They are usually pretty much fire resistant if not fireproof due to the overall composition. There are different types of asbestos but most are of the crumbly type and wouldn't make good siding.
