[SEL] 40 hp Y air start valve

was wondering if anyone has experience in removing the air start check valve cage
in the cylinder head of a 40 horse Y. It looks to be a press fit,, a brass cylinder circling
the cast iron guide and seat. It comes out through the top, and the only access to press it out
is through the 7/8 inch hole into the combustion chamber. One would be pressing directly onto the
valve itself which seems to me a good way to break the valve. i'd appreciate any thoughts or info.
