I ve unsized most of the stuck pistons on all my restored engines for many years plus it will eat rusted nuts and bolts quickly. One can runs around $12 but worth every penny. Plus it will not freeze nor easily catch fire if you use a torch. It is advertised in GEM. A question for you. My club the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club in Freeport Illinois owns a 30hp model Y Fairbanks engine which is displayed in our club building. I ve helped maintain and run it for many years and the original radiator which has been repaired many times is leaking. Do you know of a source for a new one? Central Standard Time Subj: An important message to all R&V engine owners from Peter Lowe Hi all. Well, I have been contacted by the Geneseo IL AE&TA club that hosted the 2003 R&V Centenary Expo is relation to running another R&V Feature Show. The contact is Paul Searl and he runs the RockIslandPlowCo.com website http://www.rockislandplowco.com/ The earliest date would be Sept. 2016 possibly 2017. We would like to get all R&V Register Members to this show if the massive effort involved is to be under taken. I am prepared to travel 10,000Km if you guys are prepared to travel a few hundred miles. It would be a big feat to match the 2003 and the great 2010 shows, but R&V engines are a rarer breed and it would be great to get members together to compare and share. Any way, I have started the ball rolling, please come back with your thoughts. Paul can be contacted on 309-781-2896 but also please keep me in the loop. Regards Peter Lowe R&V Engine Registrar http://www.oldengine.org/members/plowe/rv-engines/rvpage.htm I was wondering who is in charge of the R&V Expo's, I figured you might know who to talk to? In 2003 the Geneseo IL AE&TA club hosted an expo, and a group of us have been talking about trying to have another. I don't think anyone who was directly involved in that one is still active in the club so we would be starting from scratch. The club had a bit of a bad run with the engine guys directly after 2003 show, and its taken til now to get some engine guys back really active in the club. The board is very interested in it and the current president is one of the main guys spearheading it. Time frame would be sept 2016 at the earliest (show is always second weekend after labor day so usually second full weekend of Sept for Fri-Sun). 2015 will be the National Rumely Expo, so that pushes us back to 2016 or 17. I doubt we would have more than a couple of engines from within the club unless we get a sudden influx, so success would come heavily from outside. The show grounds are actually closer to Moline IL now, and are easier to access, camping is limited right now in the show grounds but that may be fixed very soon, there is also a campground about a mile away and multiple hotels. Show space is virtually unlimited and if a tour was wanted again, the club could help arrange buses. The show is significantly larger than in 2003. I would probably be the main club contact at this point. the website is http://ae-ta.com/. Anyway, feel free to pass this along to whomever it should go to. my number is 309-781-2896. Paul Searl
