[SEL] Tractor Help needed(OT)

I purchased a 1937 John Deere B back in 1989 and am just getting around to working on it.  The engine has been out for a while and I am trying to remove the oil filter canister, and it appears to be well seated into the frame, any suggestions on a book I could get that would give me tips on how to get this out without destroying it.
